Shaykh al Hudayri developed a interest in the art of recitation from a young age. His father, Uncles and almost all his relatives were great Ulamâ (scholars), Huffâz, (Memorizers) , Qurrâ, (Reciters) and beautiful Munshidîns ( Poem reciters) The Sheikh is from Sebha, Libya.
He has an Ijaza in the Qaloon recitation, though he is more than familiar with Warsh and Hafs too. His father, whom he learnt from directly, has Ijazaat in the seven readings of Qur’an Kareem, and is amongst the top three reciters in the whole of Libya. His father is famous for REVIVING the science of tajweed in Sebha.

And amongst his father’s most famous students is Sheikh Taha bin Muhammad bin Abdul-Rahman al-Fahd, who is the first reciter to record the Qur’an Kareem in all 10 transmissions in one sitting. This recording can be found here:

A blessed night of Mawlid un Nabi (peace and blessings be upon him) will be held on Thursday 6th October 2011 at South Street Masjid.
The Evening will include recitations of the Holy Quran, Barzanji Mawlid, Qasida Burdah, Asma un Nabi and Salah un Nabi (peace and blessings be upon him)
Brothers and sisters welcome, gathering will commence after Isha Salat at 8.30pm – 10.30pm, food will be served.


Dars Nizami course is traditional syllabus which was formed by the Ulama for more than 800 years ago. This syllabus includes Arabic grammar, Principles (Usūl) , Prophetic Traditions (Hadîth), Commentary (Tafsīr), Logic (Mantiq) and much more
